ArtPrize Pitch Night is a city-specific competition. Eligibility depends entirely on where you live and which partner city cycle you apply to. For 2026, confirmed cycles are Detroit and Oklahoma. The program targets regional artists who can benefit from the venue guarantee and funding to exhibit at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. Use the checker below to confirm your residency and availability match the requirements before preparing a proposal.
Residency and Location Requirements
The primary filter is geography. You must be a resident of the state or region specified for the cycle you enter.
- Detroit Cycle: Open to Michigan residents. Preference is given to residents of Wayne County. You must be able to pitch in person in Detroit.
- Oklahoma Cycle: Open to residents of Oklahoma. You must be able to pitch in person in Oklahoma City.
If you live in Grand Rapids, you are not eligible for Pitch Night. You should apply for the Motu Viget Grant instead.
Project and Artist Requirements
Beyond location, the requirements are relatively accessible but strict on format.
- Age: All applicants must be 18 years or older.
- Original Work: Proposals must be for original designs or artworks.
- Detroit Focus: Proposals for the Detroit cycle should be design-driven (spatial, functional, or user-focused).
- Previous Winners: You are ineligible if you have previously won the ArtPrize Public or Juried Grand Prize.
Availability Commitment
Pitch Night is a live event program. If you are selected as a finalist, you must be available for the live pitch in your city. If you win, you must be available to install and exhibit your work in Grand Rapids for the full ArtPrize 2026 duration (September 17 – October 3).
