The eBay Circular Fashion Fund 2026 is designed for early-stage fashion businesses that are actively working on circular solutions—resale, repair, recycling, upcycling, or extending product life. This eligibility page breaks down every requirement so you can determine whether your business qualifies before investing time in the application. The rules are strict but clear. We've organized them into hard gates (non-negotiable requirements) and soft gates (competitiveness factors). Use our interactive eligibility checker above to get an instant assessment. If you meet the core criteria, the next step is not to rush to the donor application. Submit an assessment through Grantaura so our experts can review your application narrative, flag any risky phrasing, and ensure your documentation meets the standard judges expect. Application quality is explicitly scored as one of seven criteria—eligibility alone won't win you this grant.
Hard Eligibility Gates (Must Meet All)
These requirements are non-negotiable. If your business does not meet any one of these, you are ineligible and should not apply.
Business Age: Your business must have been actively trading for at least 6 months and no more than 6 years at the time of application. This is measured from your formal registration date, not when you started planning or developing your idea. Businesses younger than 6 months or older than 6 years will be automatically disqualified.
Legal Entity Type: You must be a registered legal entity. Sole traders and sole proprietorships are explicitly excluded across all eligible regions. If you're operating as a sole trader, you'll need to register as a company (LLC, Ltd, GmbH, etc.) before applying. This is the most common disqualifier we see.
Country of Registration: Your business must be legally registered in one of these regions: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, any European Union member state, or Switzerland. No other countries are eligible in the 2026 cycle. The 2026 expansion added EU, Switzerland, and Canada for the first time.
Circular Fashion Focus: Your business must work on circular fashion solutions. This includes resale platforms, repair services, recycling technologies, upcycling brands, or any approach that extends product life and reduces textile waste. Generic sustainability claims without specific circular fashion alignment will not be competitive.
Soft Eligibility Gates (Competitiveness Factors)
These factors don't disqualify you if absent, but they significantly impact your competitiveness. Judges score against seven criteria, and these areas directly affect your scores.
Beyond Idea Stage: You should have actual products or services offered, not just a concept. The application form asks this directly. Idea-stage businesses may technically qualify but are unlikely to compete effectively against businesses with revenue traction.
eBay Marketplace Interest: You don't need to be an eBay seller to apply, but the application asks if you're open to selling, partnering, or operating on eBay. Saying yes may increase your competitiveness since winners' solutions should complement eBay's pre-loved fashion marketplace.
Technology Leverage: While not required, previous winners have used technology (AI, apps, platforms) to enable their circular solutions. Refiberd used AI for textile sorting. SOJO built an alterations app. If you have tech-enabled solutions, highlight this prominently.
Documentation Readiness (Selection Stage Requirements)
If you're shortlisted (24 applicants from hundreds), you must provide seven documents quickly. Many applicants fail here because they lack formal financial statements.
The required documents are: pitch deck, business plan, balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, capitalization table, and financing history. You should prepare these before applying, not after being shortlisted. If you can't produce these within days of shortlist notification, you'll lose your spot.
Many creative entrepreneurs lack formal accounting backgrounds. Balance sheets, income statements, and cap tables require specific knowledge. Submit an assessment and our experts help prepare these documents to the standard judges expect. We've worked with fashion founders who had the creative vision but lacked the financial documentation.
Who Should Not Apply
Be honest with yourself. If any of these describe your situation, this grant is not the right fit and you should explore alternatives:
You are a sole trader or sole proprietorship (automatic disqualification). Your business is less than 6 months old or more than 6 years old (hard cutoff). You are not registered in an eligible country (US Canada UK Australia EU Switzerland). Your business is idea-stage only with no products or services offered. You cannot provide the seven selection-stage documents if shortlisted. You are not working on circular fashion solutions (resale repair recycling upcycling longevity).
If you don't qualify, don't waste time on this application. Browse alternative grants on Grantaura that match your business age, entity type, or region. We track hundreds of opportunities beyond this one.
