Unlike many small business grants, this program enforces a narrow revenue band. If your gross annual revenue is $99,000 or $1.6 million, you are ineligible. Similarly, the employee count is strictly 1 to 5 staff members, excluding the owner. Businesses with 0 employees or more than 5 employees do not qualify. These thresholds are verified through your submitted tax returns and payroll documentation.
The program maintains an extensive list of prohibited industries, covering over 23 categories. Common exclusions include cannabis and CBD businesses, firearms dealers, gambling operations, and rideshare drivers. Nonprofits are strictly excluded. Real estate businesses where rental income is the principal revenue source are also ineligible. If your business operates in a gray area, such as therapeutic massage or mixed-income streams, consult with an expert before applying.
Applications are rejected if documents are incomplete or formatted incorrectly. Sole proprietors must submit the first two pages of their 1040 form plus Schedule C. Corporations and partnerships must submit all pages of their respective tax returns. All pages of the business bank statement are required, not just the summary page.
