Eligibility Requirements (Source-Based)

  1. Do you currently live in one of New York City's five boroughs? (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, or Staten Island) Required
  2. Does your group currently have, or will it have, at least two volunteers associated with the project? Required
  3. Is your group a nonprofit organization, grassroots volunteer group, school, or youth council (and NOT a profit-generating business)? Required
  4. Is your group a school or school program? Required
  5. Does your group have an annual budget of less than $250,000? Required
  6. Is your group an affiliate or chapter of a larger organization? Required
  7. Does your project promote religious, political, or any other ideology? Required
  8. Will your project take place entirely between June 2026 and May 2027? Required
  9. Did you receive a Community Leaders Grant award in the first cycle of this fiscal year (November 2025 - February 2026)? Required
  10. If you received a previous CitizensNYC grant, have you submitted the final report and receipts? Preference
  11. Can you provide two different contacts with working phone numbers and emails who are actively involved in the project? Required
