About: The 2025 Snow Hill Business Members Grant Program, organized by the Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce, is dedicated to fostering economic growth in the Snow Hill community by supporting entrepreneurs and businesses. With a total allocation of $25,000 funded by the annual Oyster Roast and Seafood Festival, this grant program aims to assist new and existing businesses, as well as commercial property owners, in retaining and growing their operations. The funds will be used to enhance the functionality, curb appeal, and safety of commercial properties, thereby contributing to the overall prosperity and vibrancy of Snow Hill.

Eligibility:
-Must be a current member of the Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce prior to submitting the application.
-Understand that the grant application process is competitive, and submission does not guarantee funding.
-Submit a complete grant application with all required attachments by the specified deadline.
-Ensure that no work related to the grant project begins before final approval.
-Agree to hold Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce harmless from any property damage, personal injury, or other losses related to the project.
-Hire and contract with licensed service providers and/or general contractors in the State of Maryland for project execution.
-Certify that the property is free from hazardous materials and complies with all applicable federal and state environmental laws and regulations.
-Remove all debris and materials from the property upon completion of construction projects, and maintain the property according to local codes and regulations.
-Allow the Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce to promote approved projects through signage, photographs, and press releases.
-Accept that the Chamber reserves the right to refuse reimbursement if the work is deemed unsatisfactory or if the project deviates from the approved plan.
-Understand that the grant amount will not exceed the approved amount, even if the project scope or cost increases due to unforeseen circumstances.
-Provide evidence of payments made to contractors and vendors, including invoices and proof of payment, for each reimbursement request.
-Receive reimbursement only upon completion and inspection of the project, unless otherwise specified in a written agreement.
-Recognize that exceptions to the guidelines may be approved at the discretion of the Grant Review Committee due to special conditions or situations.
-Business must continue operating for four (4) years; businesses that cease operations within 0-24 months after receiving grant funds will be required to repay the funds at 100%; businesses that cease operations within 25-47 months after receiving grant funds will be required to repay a prorated amount of the funds.
Applicants must submit a detailed business plan with five (5) year cash flow projections, an executed lease, or deed to the property where the business is located, and explain the hardship and recovery strategy if applying for hardship assistance.
Applicants applying for expansion assistance must describe the new products/services, explain how they will impact the business and contribute to strengthening the commercial climate in Snow Hill, and provide a detailed list of new inventory or equipment to be purchased with grant funds.
Applicants applying for site improvements must own the property or be a commercial tenant with written permission from the property owner, provide contractor estimates including a detailed description of the scope of work and drawings/plans for renovations, pictures of current conditions, proof of ownership of the building, and a lease agreement between the property owner and tenant, ensure that all renovations/improvements meet applicable code and historic commission requirements, and include the correction of any existing code deficiencies in the scope of work.
Applicants applying for facade signage and lighting must provide a design rendering, approval letter of design by Town of Snow Hill Code Enforcement Officer, and quote for cost, and describe the sign design, mounting details, size dimensions, and type and style of lighting.
Applicants applying for new business operating expenses must provide a business plan with five (5) year cash flow projections, an executed lease, or deed to the property where the business is located, explain how the funding will support the business, how the business will use the funds, and how the business will impact the commercial climate of Snow Hill.
Benefits:
-Financial assistance of up to $5,000 for operation and expansion of existing businesses, site improvements, facade signage and lighting, and new business operating expenses.
-Funding disbursed as reimbursement upon completion of the project and submission of proof of purchase.
-Support for new businesses with start-up capital for inventory or equipment purchase, payroll, rent/mortgage, utility, and other business expenses.
-Eligible projects include illumination of signs and buildings, permanent or semi-permanent window lettering, and signs affixed to the facade or mounted to the building.
