Sign in to save this grantThe Downtown Revitalization Matching Mini Grant opens again in for businesses inside the Ozark Courthouse Square Historic District. I went through the official Main Street Ozark page, the application form, and the Arkansas Administrative Code to figure out what this program actually demands. It is not upfront cash. It is a 75% match up to $1,000 on eligible storefront work — but only after you pay your vendors in full, finish the project, and hand over the paperwork. If you can handle that sequence, the math works in your favor. If you cannot, this grant will trip you up before you see a dollar.

This is a live funding opportunity for downtown Ozark businesses. The reimbursement-only structure is non-negotiable, and the annual pool is small. Understanding the rules before you spend anything matters more than writing a perfect application.
This program limits funding to specific street boundaries and project types. Use the tool below to confirm whether your address and planned work qualify. Two minutes here can save you from investing in a contractor estimate for a project that will not be reimbursed.
If your business sits inside the historic district, the grant can put 75% of your costs back into your pocket for work that makes your storefront function or look better. Exterior repairs including roofs and masonry, facade improvements like signage, fresh paint and awnings, interior electrical services, display fixtures, and the construction of new display areas are all eligible.[1]
Here is where applicants run into trouble. The program will not reimburse cash payments for invoices, work that started before the AHPP Director signs your contract, administrative salaries, or general marketing costs.[2] If your project is already underway, none of those costs count. The non-retroactive rule is absolute and has no exceptions.
The match math is straightforward. Spend $1,333 on eligible work and Main Street Ozark reimburses the full $1,000. Spend $800 and you get $600 back. Spend $2,000 and the reimbursement is still capped at $1,000. You always cover the remaining 25%.
Jackpot Bins received grant assistance for a facade upgrade in April 2025. Perfect Touch received a signage grant in April 2026. Both completed work inside the required window and submitted the full documentation package. Their outcomes confirm the process functions — and confirm that skipping any step in the documentation sequence would have cost them the reimbursement.[3]
This program never advances cash. You pay every contractor, purchase every material, and cover the full project cost before reimbursement begins. Only after the project is complete, documented with before-and-after photos, and backed by paid invoices and proof of payment does the state start the reimbursement chain. The check goes to Main Street Ozark first; they verify and then disburse to you.[4]
Two details most summaries skip. First, the state processes invoices in roughly 10 working days before Main Street Ozark can disburse — plan for that lag in your cash flow. Second, Ozark receives only $2,500 total from the state each year to distribute among multiple businesses. If enough applications clear review before yours, the pool is gone.[5] Early applications in the cycle have the advantage.
The district boundary is the first gate. Your business must operate inside the rectangle bounded by 4th Street to the west, West Commercial Street (US-64) to the north, 2nd Street to the east, and West Main Street to the south.[6] Addresses outside those streets are ineligible regardless of project type or readiness.
If your address sits on the edge of the boundary and you are unsure, book a quick consultation with a grant expert before you pay for a contractor estimate. Boundary uncertainty is the easiest thing to resolve before you commit money.
All funds must be expended by the program’s annual fiscal-year expenditure cutoff. If you need more time, extension requests must be submitted in writing at least 14 days before the deadline. Extensions are not automatic, and funds may be reassigned if deadlines are missed.[8]
We will review your project estimate and documentation readiness before you commit to the timeline.
Itemized estimate from contractor or vendor Before photos submitted with application After photos submitted with reimbursement request Paid invoices with traceable payment proof Maximum 4 invoices per grant cycle Final Project Report within 30 days of completionRequired Steps
Payment proof must show a check, bank transfer, or card transaction. Cash receipts disqualify your reimbursement regardless of the invoice amount. Keep copies of everything before submitting.
These are the most common failure points based on the official form and state regulations:
Confirm your street address is inside the district boundaries Secure an itemized estimate before submitting the application Pay all vendors by check or traceable transfer Complete work within the 90-day approval window Submit paid invoices and full payment documentation
The 2026-27 cycle opens in August 2026. The exact date will be announced on Main Street Ozark’s website and Facebook page. Between now and then: line up a contractor, get a preliminary itemized estimate, photograph your current storefront, and verify your address is inside the district. When the form goes live, early applicants have the clearest shot at the limited $2,500 annual pool.
The 75% match structure and reimbursement rules repeat annually. If your project timeline is further out, the preparation steps above remain the same whenever you apply.
The Arkansas Heritage site describes several Main Street grant programs, some with a 1:1 match ratio. Ozark’s Downtown Revitalization Matching Mini Grant is a separate program governed by the Arkansas Administrative Code for Small Cities. It runs at 75% match, is reimbursement-only, and has its own rules and deadlines. When reading the state overview, treat the 50% and 1:1 match rates as belonging to different programs — they do not apply here.
Reimbursement only. You pay vendors in full, complete the project, and submit paid invoices, payment copies, and before-and-after photos before any funds come back to you. Cash payments are not accepted and will disqualify your reimbursement.
No. The grant is non-retroactive. Any costs spent before the AHPP Director signs your contract are ineligible. Do not start work, purchase materials, or pay any vendor until the contract signature is in place.
All expenditures must be completed by the program’s annual fiscal-year expenditure cutoff. No extensions are granted automatically. Written requests must be submitted at least 14 days before the deadline, and approval is not guaranteed.
Paid invoices (no estimates, memos, or contracts), copies of payment showing a traceable method (no cash receipts), before photos submitted with your application, and after photos submitted with your reimbursement request. No more than four invoices per cycle.
Any business physically located inside the Ozark Courthouse Square Historic District, bounded by 4th Street to the west, West Commercial Street (US-64) to the north, 2nd Street to the east, and West Main Street to the south.
Main Street Ozark matches 75% of eligible costs up to a $1,000 maximum reimbursement. You cover the remaining 25%. Additional amounts beyond $1,000 may be approved in some cases but are not guaranteed.
Projects must be finished within 90 days of approval. Extension requests require written notice at least 14 days before the deadline. Extensions are not automatic and funds may be reassigned if you miss the window.
Jackpot Bins received grant support for a facade improvement in April 2025. Perfect Touch received a signage grant in April 2026. Both completed their projects within the required window and met the full documentation requirements.
Cash payments disqualify that invoice from reimbursement. All payment proof must show a check number, bank transfer, or card transaction. There are no exceptions.
If your address falls outside the Ozark Courthouse Square Historic District, or if you want to explore national funding options for physical storefronts, the Amex Shop Small Grants program awards $20,000 each to 250 brick-and-mortar store owners across the country. The application requirements are different, but the target audience overlaps closely.
The upfront payment requirement, the mandatory meeting with Mark Miller, and the documentation demands are the real friction in this program — not the application form itself. A single missing item in your payment proof can kill the reimbursement after the project is already done. If you have confirmed your address is inside the district and your project fits the eligible categories, you can start full application submission through Grantaura and we will review your estimate and documentation readiness before you commit to the timeline. Your Grant Assessment fee is non-refundable, but the base assessment fee can be applied once toward the Full Application for the same grant when you select that option at checkout.
If you need help confirming your boundary eligibility or want a walkthrough of the reimbursement checklist before you schedule the Mark Miller meeting, book a 1-on-1 consultation with a grant expert. The Grantaura dashboard can also track your 90-day project window, the state processing timeline, and the annual expenditure cutoff so nothing slips.
I am Mujeeb ur Rehman, a writer who worked through the Main Street Ozark donor page, the official application form, the Arkansas Administrative Code, and recent recipient posts to put this page together. The reimbursement sequence and exact district boundaries are the two things most summaries get wrong or skip, and those are the two things that determine whether your project actually gets funded.
