Eligibility:
– Must be a startup or SME (Small to Medium-sized Enterprise) based and operating within the biomedical industry sector in Western Australia.
– Business must be registered in Western Australia and possess a current Australian Business Number (ABN) and/or Australian Company Number (ACN).
– The proposed project must be innovative, developed within Western Australia, and have a total budget not exceeding $100,000 (excluding GST).
– A commitment from the business to remain based in Western Australia for the subsequent three years is required.
– The business must employ between one (1) and twenty (20) individuals (full-time equivalent). This includes sole traders, private sector companies, partnerships, and non-profit organizations.
– The applicant business must be solvent.
– Applicants must demonstrate willingness and financial capacity for a cash co-contribution of at least 20% of the requested project funding (e.g., a $10,000 cash contribution for a $40,000 grant request, resulting in a $50,000 total project cost).
– Grant funds are not permissible for ‘business as usual’ operational costs, standard training courses, off-the-shelf hardware/software purchases, general business or strategic planning, or routine website development.
– If project expenditure involves Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property, or Commercialisation Support services (as per items 3 or 4 in the official guidelines), these services must be procured from an external consultant or supplier.
– Requested eligible expenditure must be for services to be rendered in the future; retroactive claims for work already initiated or completed are not allowed.
