Grant Overview

Unlock Funding Readiness, Funder Matchmaking, and Growth Capital for Certified Diverse Suppliers

Donor: Founders First Capital Partners & MNSDC

About: The Small Certified Supplier Innovative Finance Program is a vital initiative by Founders First Capital Partners, designed to create a clear pathway for certified diverse suppliers to enhance their business capacity and secure capital. This program is a key component of the broader Initiative for Inclusive Entrepreneurship (IIE), which aims to level the playing field for small businesses owned by historically underserved populations. By participating, business owners gain access to a robust ecosystem of resources tailored to their unique needs, helping them overcome common barriers to funding and growth. Navigating the world of grants for for-profit businesses can be complex, and this program provides the targeted support needed to succeed.

A central feature of the program is its focus on education and preparation. Participants engage with on-demand educational modules that make them aware of potential pitfalls that can hinder funding access. This “Funding Readiness” curriculum provides a comprehensive assessment and rating, giving entrepreneurs a clear understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement. This structured approach ensures that businesses are not just applying for funds, but are fundamentally prepared to manage and leverage capital effectively. For companies operating in a B2B or B2G model, this preparation is crucial for securing larger contracts and achieving sustainable growth.

Beyond education, the program facilitates direct connections to a wide range of capital providers through targeted funder matchmaking sessions. These sessions are not generic networking events; they are curated based on the specific needs of each business, connecting them with mission-driven VCs, CDFIs, and alternative lenders who are actively looking to invest in diverse suppliers. This direct access to a network of funders is often the missing piece for many certified businesses that have a strong business model but lack the connections to secure the right type of financing. The program ultimately helps build a more resilient and inclusive supply chain.

The application process is designed to identify promising certified suppliers ready to scale. While the program provides immense value through training and networking, preparing a competitive application is key. Crafting a compelling narrative, developing accurate financial projections, and clearly articulating your growth strategy are critical steps. Grantaura offers a suite of expert services, including professional grant writing and business plan development, to help you present your business in the strongest possible light and increase your chances of being selected for this and other valuable funding opportunities.
